Imaging of Supracardiac Total Anomalous Pulmonary Venous Drainage

CHEST, 79: 1, JANUARY, 1981 IMAGING OF SUPRACARDIAC TOTAL ANOMALOUS PULMONARY VENOUS DRAINAGE 113 patient was one of acute ventricular failure with severe right upper abdominal quadrant pain due to liver distention, ascites, and edema. Total Anomalous Pulmonary Venous Drainage

The spontaneous functional closure of the interatrial communication in total anomalous pulmonary venous drainage (TAPVD) subsequent to surgical correction of the TAPVD in infants is reported. Three cases are documented with descriptions of clinical features, cardiac catheterization data, thermodilution curves, and angiography. This evidence suggests that it might be unnecessary in infants to cl...

Total Anomalous Pulmonary Venous Connection

Experience with 75 cases of proven total anomalous pulmonary venous connection without other significant cardiac malformations treated at the Children's Hospital Medical Center in Boston from January 1950 to June 1968 forms the basis of this report. Clinical observations of patients with this defect presenting in infancy are reviewed in depth, and the few patients presenting after 1 year of age...

Total Anomalous Pulmonary Venous Drainage with Unusual Features.

The occurrence of relatively soft continuous murmurs of the venous hum type in supradiaphragmatic forms of total anomalous pulmonary venous drainage is well recognized (Keith et al., 1954; Keith, Rowe, and Vlad, 1958). Loud continuous murmurs occur at times but are considerably less common (McKusick, 1958). This paper describes two cases of total anomalous pulmonary venous drainage in which lou...

Emergency stenting of vertical vein in a neonate with obstructed supracardiac total anomalous pulmonary venous drainage.

A late preterm newborn baby presented with respiratory distress and increasing cyanosis within 2 hours of birth. Bedside transthroracic echocardiography showed a critically obstructed vertical vein in a supracardiac total anomalous pulmonary venous drainage (TAPVd). Emergency stenting of the vertical vein was successfully performed at 24 hours of life.
